We are nearing the end of our time in Switzerland and the feelings of sadness are beginning to creep into my soul. The beauty of the place, the precious time spent with Christ-followers serving all over the world, the time and space to hear God. All of these are great gifts and will be felt as losses when we leave. I want to embrace all of it and not let go. I want to hold fast to the gifts when I need to wrap my arms around the Giver.
Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. (12:1)
What is God doing for me, right now, as I sit looking out the window? What is He asking me to embrace? This is what immediately comes to mind: forgiveness, love, grace, beauty, loss, mystery, pain, work. These are His doing, not mine. This is what He's doing
for me.
"I tell you again - it is not of your doing at all this moment when your soul awakens. He creates in you the desire to find Him and run after Him - to follow wherever He leads you, and to press peacefully against His heart wherever He is." (John of the Cross, You Set My Spirit Free)
What are you embracing or yearning to embrace? What is God awakening in your soul? Are you pressing into Him or into another's embrace?

What am I yearning to embrace? Freedom. Grace. Forgiveness. God's way.
What do I see God doing? Making a way for me. Encouraging me to lay down my burdens. Lovingly and consistently revealing my sin. Relentlessly leading me into His light. Fighting the battle for my soul.
