September 26 - 1 Timothy 3: Clear Enough

This Christian life is a great mystery, far exceeding our understanding, but some things are clear enough:
He appeared in a human body,    was proved right by the invisible Spirit, was seen by angels. He was proclaimed among all kinds of peoples,   believed in all over the world, taken up into heavenly glory.  (3:15-16)
Why do I make things so complicated?  Yes, life is a great mystery.   But, Christ made it simple - not easy, but simple.  When I'm seeking solutions, relief, peace or freedom instead of His presence, life feels muddy, complicated, unclear.
"You are not yet spiritually resurrected into a sinless existence, into a struggle-free life where things always go well, into the full joy you will know when you see My Son.  Until then, guard the truth that has the power to keep you turned toward Me, persevering in love and waiting in hope - the truth that makes possible a new way to live as an imperfect person in an imperfect world."  (66LL)
This truth is what Paul summarized for us and presents as the framework and foundation for the church.  It's all about Jesus.  Guarding this truth and finding life in it allows the Spirit to "provide wisdom to conduct yourself well" in the Church and the preconditions for leaders and servants in the church take their rightful place.  No longer a list of do's and don'ts to live up to, the first 13 verses of this chapter are the evidence of finding life in Christ alone.
