December 30 - Revelations 17-19: The Sovereign-Strong

It's very meaningful that the Message version goes beyond the translation of God Almighty or Sovereign God to "God, the Sovereign-Strong."  He's not just all powerful, brute strength.  He's not just a headship, a ruling sovereign.  He is The Sovereign-Strong.  He has the power and the authority.  He is the Power and the Authority over all creation, over angels, over people, over Satan.  He decides, He gives permission, He allows.  No questions asked.  End of story.
Hallelujah!
The Master reigns, our God, the Sovereign-Strong!
Let us celebrate, let us rejoice, let us give him the glory!   (19:6-7)
The Rider, named Faithful and True.. he is addressed as "Word of God...."  He treads the winepress of the raging wrath of God, the Sovereign-Strong.  On his robe and thigh is written, King of Kings, Lord of Lords.   (19:11-16)
We are in this Sovereign-Strong God's plan.  We are His bride.  We are invited to the Great Supper.  We will watch as He defeats Satan, once and for all.
"Never live in fear of the devil!  Recognize him.  Resist him.  But know that My Son's power is greater than his.  His doom is as sure as your life is secure."  (66LL)
That's my true reality.  That's what I should place my hopes on.  That's the light I need to live in.

Praise God, that He is the Sovereign-Strong. Revelation has taught me SO much about God's sovereignty and His patience with us. His slowness in judgment is actually His merciful patience.

As we move through the holiday season and like Cici mentioned previously, we are easily reminded of our sin and deep family junk...ugh...I am thankful that I trust in a God that is the Sovereign-Strong and He is in control, from the big picture things in Revelation to the little details of my life.

Staci, what a beautiful word to end your posts for 2011. The Sovereign-Strong. I will carry it with me. And I will hold dear the beautiful words and thoughts you gave us all year long because you gave us your heart, raw and real. You have brought God to all of us. Cannot thank you enough! It was my privilege to read your heart day after day. And it was a Beautiful God Who read your heart and loves you so! My deep gratitude, Bev
