Welcome!

We're glad you're joining us on this year-long adventure with God and His 66 love letters to us!  Just a few more days and we'll get started in earnest.  Until then, see below for hints on becoming a follower of the blog.  As we "...thrill to God's Word...chew on Scripture day and night," we will be like "...a tree replanted in Eden, bearing fresh fruit every month, never dropping a leaf, always in blossom."(Psalm 1:2-3)

See you on Jan. 1st, 2011! Until then, when you get a few minutes, sit down and enjoy a cup of something warm and read the Prologue and "How this Book can Speak to You" from 66 Love Letters.

Helpful hints to get started:

1)  Add yourself as a follower to this blog so we know you're here.  You will need a gmail, twitter or yahoo email account to sign in.  If you don't have one, it's very easy and quick to create.  And please add a photo. We want to see you and get to know you!  It can be a cute one of yo' face or any random photo you want.

2)  One of us will post our thoughts each morning (or late the night before) so that when you log on to the blog, you will see the current day's post.  If you want to add a comment, or see others' comments, click the comment link at the bottom of the post.  It will bring up another window where you can write your comment and view others.  (You will need to log in and do a word verification to post your comment.)  Please make sure you read each day's comments because that's how we're in community, learning about each other and enjoying different perspectives.

3)  Each day's post title will indicate the reading selection (e.g. January 1 - Genesis 1-3)  When we start a new book of the Bible, please read the corresponding chapter in 66 Love Letters.  Our posts may include thoughts from both readings.  Check out the sidebar for a link to the daily reading plan.

4)  A reminder - this is not a performance by us for you or by you for everyone else.  We will post what God showed us in the reading, and it may be different from how God spoke to you.  That's totally expected and that's the beauty of being in community. Please jump into the comments so that we can share how the Bible fascinates us and confuses us....in order to "fit the 66 pieces of the jigsaw puzzle together." (66 Love Letters, xvii)

5)  If you get behind in the reading, don't feel like you need to catch up before you jump back in. (You probably won't.)  Just pick up at the current reading and move forward.

If you need any help getting started, please let one of us know.

With love & anticipation,
Staci & Cici

So I'm not sure if we are even supposed to comment yet since we haven't officially started...but I just have to say, I am PUMPED to start this! I just finished the Prologue last night and it is AWESOME. I love how it talks about how often, as Christians, we are seeking ways for God to fit into our own life, our own story, rather than seeking ways to understand how we fit into the bigger picture, into God's story...and the only way to understand the bigger story is to be reading it! Yay!

Here's a favorite quote from the prologue: The Bible is a love story that begins with a divorce. Everything from the third chapter of Genesis through the end of Revelation is the story of a betrayed lover wooing us back into His arms so we can enjoy the love of family forever."

LOVE IT! Can't wait to start this with you girls!

Comments are always welcome, Amanda, no matter if we've officially started or not!

Glad you're enjoying the prologue. I've found the 66 LL book fascinating from the first page to the last page and am excited to start over again on page one in 2011.

So happy you're doing this with us!

I am really excited to do this study and it's coming at a great time for me. My father-in-law passed away about a week before Christmas and it's been really hard for my husband, and for me. I had known my father-in-law for about 20 yrs, but it took me a long time to really get to know him and to love him. I was only able to do that in the past several years. I'm glad I was able to do that, but I wish I had more time with him.

I bought the book last night and started reading the prologue while in Barnes & Nobels sharing a Starbucks peppermint mocha with my husband (our favorite holiday drink!). I like how the author says that seeking God during misery doesn't mean to wait for God to something - God has already done enough. Instead, it means aggressively listening and waiting for Him to not do more, but rather for us to listen well and better hear the story God is telling us. I also liked how the author says that he decided not to wait to see God with spiritual eyes (whatever that means, as the author says, which I agree with) and also decided not to sit in silence to somehow hear God in his soul (however you do that, as the author says, which I also agree with). Instead, the author decided to explore how he might hear God speak to him from the Bible. I like this action-oriented attitude.

I look forward to actively hearing God speak to me through His word!
